About the event
Step into Isa's dynamic dance class inspired by the principles of Nia practice, offering an invigorating workout experience. Together, we'll embark on a gentle warm-up journey through the 7 Nia cycles, setting the stage for a joyful and energizing session. This class promises to infuse your day with fun, focusing on enhancing flexibility, agility, mobility, strength, stability, and moments of peaceful silence.
Nia is a holistic fitness practice that blends elements of dance, martial arts, and healing arts to create a joyful and transformative movement experience. Rooted in the belief that movement is medicine for the body, mind, and spirit, Nia encourages participants to explore their unique expression of movement while nurturing self-awareness and connection. With a focus on pleasure and sensation, Nia invites individuals of all ages and fitness levels to move with intention, grace, and joy, fostering holistic well-being and vitality.
Isa Schwartz Gesseau's journey with dance began in her youth, focusing primarily on modern contemporary dance. Approximately seven years ago, she discovered Nia and embarked on her certification journey, obtaining both her white and green belts through Studio Kairos in Johannesburg, along with her Moving to Heal belt. Currently, Isa leads two weekly classes in Johannesburg: Classic Nia and Moving to Heal. In addition to her passion for movement, Isa is also an art teacher who values the creativity and liberation that the arts offer. For Isa, Nia has evolved into her personal tonic, providing not only physical activity but also a means for meditation, magic, and profound healing, offering a transformative experience.
